📚 World Book Day 2026

World Book Day is on Thursday 5th March and the theme this year is ‘Go All In’! Reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator that a child will grow up to enjoy a happy and successful future. We want every student at ODA to leave us as a curious, confident reader and we can’t wait to celebrate World Book Day and champion reading for fun with a variety of events and assemblies. Students will also be given a £1 token, which they can swap at a bookseller for any of the special World Book Day titles.

Bedtime stories are a wonderful way to encourage your child to enjoy reading for pleasure and, with this in mind, students are invited to come to school wearing their pyjamas on that day. They may also bring a pair of slippers (to be worn inside only) and one small, soft toy as long as it is small enough to fit inside their school bag.

We look forward to celebrating all things reading on Thursday 5th March!

♫ Playground Performances

Music is a big part of our school curriculum and because of this the children will be performing the songs they have been learning during their music lessons. This will take place in the playground at the end of the day on the dates and times shown below. We would love to see as many people there as possible as it is a great opportunity for the children to showcase all of their hard work this term! If you are not able to attend, we will be recording these performances and uploading some to our Instagram account so you can all enjoy!

🐔 ODA Farmers

Building on the incredible success of last year’s ODA Farmers, we were thrilled to receive over 135 applications from Years 1–5 to become ODA Farmers this year! Every applicant demonstrated the values of scholarship and effort.

While we wish we could take everyone at once, 18 children will participate each term to ensure our chickens are cared for and adults can support the children. Successful students will receive a confirmation letter next week; those not selected this time will receive a waiting list letter, as our farming teams will rotate every term so as to share the development of valuable skills with as many budding farmers as possible!
