We are delighted that the Book Fair will be returning to One Degree for the second time this academic year! As we have noted before, research indicates that reading for pleasure is a huge contributor to a student’s future success; it leads to better academic performance, higher self-esteem and improved cognitive and emotional well-being.
There will be a range of titles available (with many at discounted prices) so please do come along and browse the books! The book fair will run from Monday 18 May to Thursday 21 May in The Studio. It will be open on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 to 4pm and on Wednesday from 2 to 2:30pm.
Year groups are invited to browse the fair on their specific days to avoid the fair being overcrowded:
Here is a message from our Young Citizens:
“Hello everyone! We are young citizens and we have been working really hard to make a difference in our local community. We have been focussing on how to help those struggling with homelessness and, therefore, we want to learn what it is like to work in a food bank.
On Thursday 21st May, we want to host ODA’s BEST food bank yet and we need your help! Please bring in any non-perishable foods like pasta and tinned goods starting on Monday 18th May.
You will find us near the main office when you arrive each morning and can leave your donations with us to then sort, collect and distribute.
Thank you so much!”
On Thursday 18th June, 3:15-3:45pm, there will be a meeting to discuss the transition from Nursery to Reception. Please contact the school if you are NOT planning on attending as we will keep students in class until the end of the session.
On Thursday 4th June, 3:15-3:45pm, there will be a meeting to discuss the transition from EYFS to KS1. Please contact the school if you are NOT planning on attending as we will keep students in class until the end of the session.
(Reception and Year 6 students only)
The school nursing team will be coming in on Tuesday 2nd June to carry out measurement checks on our Reception and Year 6 students. See this letter and leaflet for further information.
If you DO NOT want your child to have this done, you must contact the nursing team at 0203 988 7300 no later than the day before they visit (1st June). No child will be made to take part if they do not want to on the day.
Interested in singing with other adults in the ODA community, including staff and other parents/carers? At ODA we are all about giving things a go and looking at how we can add value to our community. We are excited to say that one of our parent governors, Adeola, has agreed to use her musical skills to support us with a taster singing event to see if a regular ODA Adult Choir may be of interest.
The Adult Choir Taster Session will take place on Wednesday 1st July. Please help us to make the event a success by completing the following form, where you can tell us about your interest level, if you will be coming to the event and, if so, what time would work best. Thank you for your help!
