- Combined RWM: 90% EXS+ | 24% GDS
For those of you who aren’t sure what those acronyms mean: EXS+ means the expected standard or better; GDS means they are working above that at greater depth.
Just to put this into context, only 63% of students nationally get the expected standard in reading, writing and maths, which is shocking and proves how important being #ProudlyDifferent is and why we choose to do things the ODA Way!
🥳 STRIVE Fest Success!
Wow! What a great afternoon we had on Wednesday celebrating our community and the efforts of family, students and the school over the past academic year. We know it takes a team to reach the summit and always enjoy coming together to celebrate and enjoy one another’s company. It was a packed afternoon filled with games, fun, food and performances. Big shout out to all of the students who performed and thanks to the families who kindly donated food. We couldn’t put on these events without you!
A special mention to Maria, Megan, Aysha, Mia Hatzer, Sofia, Mike, Shania and Gary for all of their hard work behind the scenes making the event possible. Check out our “STRIVE Fest 2026” highlight on Instagram for some photos of the day.
📌 Key Dates to Remember for Autumn 2026
Wednesday, 2nd September
Launch Day—parents sign up for individual appointments with their child’s new teacher via MCAS. Information to be sent in August.
Thursday, 3rd September
KS1 & KS2 First Day
Friday, 4th September
Nursery students will be having a reduced timetable, including Stay and Play sessions (times and dates have been communicated to parents individually).
Monday, 7th September
New Reception students will be having a staggered start from this date (times have been communicated to parents individually).
Tuesday, 8th September
Y6 Blazer Ceremony - 3:00pm. We can’t wait for the Class of 2034 to officially
become ODA ambassadors.
*ODA provides blazers. There is no need to purchase one.
Wednesday, 9th September
Y1 Tie Ceremony - 1:30pm. Please ensure your child’s school shirt fits
comfortably around the neck so they can fasten the top button. We recommend
shirts with traditional buttons rather than Velcro, as Velcro can easily undo and be uncomfortable to wear.
*ODA provides ties. There is no need to purchase one.
⚕️ Medication - End-of-Year Protocol
All medication we have in the medical cupboard has been returned to students on the last day of term in their bags. New care plans will need to be completed on MCAS for the next academic year in September, if you wish to bring them back to be administered. No medication can be kept in school over the summer holidays.
💜 Farewell to Some Cherished Friends
Included in our goodbyes this week, we say a sad farewell to some cherished friends.
Recently, a dear school chicken, Rosie, peacefully passed away. Rosie brought joy, curiosity and smiles to our playground. We are incredibly proud of how gentle, kind and responsible our students have been in caring for her throughout her life here.
In addition, over the last half term, our beloved school dog, Lolly, passed away suddenly. Thankfully she was her usual happy, joyful self right up until the very end. We want to say a huge thank you to all the students who read their work to her and offered her company over the years. She loved her time at ODA and that was down to how much everyone all welcomed her. As she was ‘semi-retired,’ the students had not seen much of Lolly lately, so we felt it more appropriate that any conversations parents/carers wish to have about the passing be done at home if deemed appropriate. Thank you for your understanding.

On Thursday 10 September 2026, current Year 5 (soon-to-be Year 6) parents/carers and students are invited to a unique event run by Enfield Council offering transitioning from primary school. Please see this flyer for more details and to book your 90-minute slot.
🤗 Eligibility for Financial Support from ODA
The Government has recently expanded certain eligibility requirements so that more families may now qualify for financial support from ODA.
We encourage all parents and carers to complete our eligibility check, even if you do not think you qualify. The process is quick, confidential and could provide valuable benefits for your child.

🍳 Cooking Champions - Free Lessons
Cooking Champions is a registered food support, education and training charity running in the North London area. For free cooking lessons available throughout the summer holidays, you can check out their website.
🎨⚽ Malearn Summer Holiday Clubs 2026
Malearn will once again be delivering Summer Holiday Clubs at Eldon Primary School as part of the Enfield Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme, in partnership with Enfield Council.
This summer, they will be offering two HAF programmes:
- Malearn Summer 2026 Holiday Club – our mainstream holiday club, offering a wide range of fun, creative, active and enriching experiences for eligible children.
- Malearn Moderate SEND Holiday Club – designed for children with moderate special educational needs and disabilities, providing additional support within a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment.
Both programmes will run from Monday 20th July to Monday 10th August 2026.
Across both programmes, children will enjoy a wide variety of engaging activities, healthy hot lunches and opportunities to develop confidence, build friendships and create lasting memories throughout the summer holidays.
