🥳 Happy 10th Birthday to ODA!

It is hard to put into words just how proud I am of the school we have created together.

When I first heard about the idea of One Degree Academy, I knew it was an opportunity I could not pass up. I was inspired by the story behind the school and, most importantly, by its mission - the belief that every child should have a life of choice and opportunity, regardless of background. When I joined the team, One Degree was still an idea on paper. I remember the early conversations, the plans and the excitement about what we might create. Even then, there was a real sense that we were building something special.

Ten years later, it is amazing to look back at how far we have come. We have grown, developed and changed in ways I could never have imagined. We have moved buildings twice - through not one, but two heatwaves! Our staff team has grown from six people to 55 and we have had the privilege of educating hundreds of children.

We have created something very special in our community. Our graduates, now in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10, still regularly come back to visit us. They know that One Degree will always be a place where they are welcomed, remembered and celebrated, and that we will always be their biggest cheerleaders. Seeing them walk back through our doors is one of the greatest reminders of what makes One Degree so special.

As we celebrate ten years, I want to say thank you. Thank you to every member of staff, past and present, for the commitment, care and energy you have given to One Degree. Thank you to our families for trusting us with your children. And, most of all, thank you to our students and graduates. You are the reason we are here and the reason we continue to strive to be better.

Ten years ago, we stood at the beginning of something none of us could fully imagine. Today, we have a school, a community and a team that I feel incredibly lucky to be part of.

I am so proud of One Degree Academy and even more excited about what comes next.

⚽ Best Football Team Trials (Yrs 5 & 6)

We are super excited to announce that Tuesday, 15th September we will be having our "Best Team" football trial for our teammates in Year 5 and 6. This is an opportunity to represent the school by participating in competitive football games against other schools if selected. 

The trial will take place on the grass at KS2 lunch time. If your child would like to take part, please ensure that they come into school in their P.E. kit, including football boots to change into at lunch and shin pads. If you do not have football boots, you can wear trainers instead. 

Those students who have been selected will be notified of their role in the squad. Please note: being selected for the squad does not necessarily mean that they will be selected for the fixtures.
