The ODA After School Club and Sudhi Club offers start on Monday 12th January. If your child will be attending one of these clubs, please ensure that they are collected from the main playground at the correct time as stated on the initial letter.

🤩 Reception Places for September 2026

As a reminder to any parents/carers for whom there are siblings or who have children in our current Nursery, you will still need to apply for a space in our Reception. The deadline for ALL applications is 15th January 2026. Any applications after this date will be classed as a late admission and will not be considered until the second round.

📚 One Degree Academy Library Launch

We are extremely excited to announce that our new library, The Cambridge Library, will officially open to students on Thursday 5th February! It is being carefully designed and developed to provide a central space for all of our wonderful books and to be a hub for both reading and performance at One Degree. We cannot wait to open a new special place in our school and we are delighted that bestselling and award-winning author Maz Evans will be visiting to formally open The Cambridge Library.

The library will also form part of our new reading home learning offer for Years 2 to 6, Accelerated Reader. Before 5th February, students will still be able to access the library to borrow books and start using Accelerated Reader.

What’s in a name?

As you know, our classes are named after the universities our teachers attended. For our library, we wanted to give a nod to Cambridge University, an inspirational place in the UK to study English Literature.

🪀 Tilly and Taj Tots

We are looking forward to re-starting our stay-and-play sessions for under-3s. If you have a child who is under three, we would love to welcome you to join us each Wednesday 8:20-9:30am for Tilly and Taj Tots. Please email the school office (parents@onedegreeacademy.org) if you would like more details and to attend.

🏰 Share a Story

At ODA, we know how important reading is and would love to celebrate a culture of reading within our school. Each Friday, we invite parents/carers and siblings of our Reception students to join us for a short story time, 8:20-8:35am in the Reception Classrooms.

🕣 Every Minute Matters at One Degree Academy

Thank you to everyone last term who has been ensuring your child arrives on time each day. As we know, even a few minutes late can mean missing out on essential learning opportunities. From handwriting practice and journaling to morning quizzing, 'Word of the Day', phonics, times tables, Maths Meetings and key messages from the teacher, these important activities help set a positive tone for the whole day.

As a reminder, all students are expected to arrive between 8:20 and 8:30am for a soft start. During this time, staff are ready and waiting, lining the homebases to warmly welcome your child and help them settle into the day.

For any child arriving at 8:30am or later, parents/carers will be required to complete a late form at the school office and your child will be marked in as late. Please accompany your late child and complete the form accurately and completely in order to ensure that your child is registered correctly.

To check your child’s class start and finish times, please visit our “School Day” page on our website.
