This is a reminder that our annual school photographs will be taking place next Thursday, 16th October 2025. The format will be individual, as well as sibling photos. Please can you make sure your child is in full school uniform as usual and they bring their P.E. kit separately if needed.
Once the photos have been taken, proof cards will be given to teachers for distribution to parents. The instructions for ordering and payment of photos will be clearly printed on the proof cards and there will be a one week window to order your photos. All orders will be delivered to ODA if ordered on time.
From after half term, we will be introducing a new system of signing your child up to the ODA Breakfast Club. Please see this letter, which contains details of the new sign-up system, along with key dates and prices.
The school nursing team will be coming back on Monday, 13th October 2025 at 9.00am to administer the flu vaccine for our Reception students, as well as anyone who missed or still wants to have this done (in that case, complete the form here). This is generally done by a nose spray but they also offer the alternative injection if preferred.
One of our four 'Cs' is Cultural Capital. At One Degree we try to celebrate and enrich children's Cultural Capital in lots of different ways, from Public Speaking during daily lunchtime appreciations to exciting residential trips, and much more! To make this offer even better we would appreciate your support to help our children achieve a life filled with choice and opportunity. If you are interested in supporting ODA and our students by volunteering, please complete this short form.
Well done to the ODA ‘Best’ Football Team who continued their participation in the local football league over at Enfield Grammar School. We are really proud of the students representing ODA who displayed excellent Teamwork and Effort throughout. A huge thanks to Prince and Melvyn who led the team and the amazing parents/carers who came out to support them.
Chloe would like to thank so many of you for joining her this week to find out about Family Group. Chloe will be around Wednesday, 15 October if anyone missed the coffee morning and would like to find out more.
Chloe is going to join our team each Wednesday for her work with The School & Family Works. To find out more, please see Chloe’s letter here.
We would love to welcome parents of Nursery and Reception to join us for our first coffee morning on Friday, 17th October. This session will be led by Maria and will have a focus on Play and Talk, and will include an opportunity to practise these ideas with your child. We look forward to seeing you there!

We want to make you aware of a recent issue affecting some popular children’s books by Andrew Cope, including the Spy Dogs, Spy Cats and Spy Pups series.
Some editions of these books include a printed web address at the back. This link used to go to the author’s website, but the domain is no longer under his control. It has since been taken over by another party and now leads to inappropriate adult content.
The publisher, Puffin, has paused sales and distribution of the books and is working with schools, libraries and retailers to remove copies from circulation. They have stressed that the website has no connection to the author or publisher.
What this means for you:
We will continue to share updates from the publisher as more information becomes available.
Nursery and Reception: Check Tapestry for the latest video from the teaching team.
Y1-6: Click here for the latest home learning video from the teaching team.
Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram @1DegreeAcademy to see photos of our week!
Many thanks, ODA
